- Selected plants must be healthy, free of pests or diseases with aesthetic appeal – else it will create spots on your art.
Art of Preservation
- Place the flower, leaves or plant between two blotting papers and press them using books or use the plant press method.
- Remember those school days, when we used to do this for life sciences or zoology practical – it is so fascinating that you will re-live your childhood memory. Now keep the smile on your face and go on!
- Alternatively, you can use silica gel on natural elements like flower, leaves or plants and it will keep the shape and colour of your natural elements as well.
- Note – Keeping your natural element clean and colourful will make the jewellery more beautiful.

Step 2 – Art of making the masterpiece
The most crucial step to create the masterpieces involves the handicraft making process of resin casting.
Materials Needed
- Clear epoxy resin
- Silicone molds of different shapes and sizes
- Cups, Protective Gears.
Process
- Mixing the resin – with hardener in a cup (follow the guideline of the manufacturer of the resin)
- Create the base layer – Pour a small amount of resin into the silicon mold.
- Placing the natural elements like plants, flowers, seashells etc into the resin layer as per your desire.
- Final Layer – pour another level of resin over the natural elements until the mold is full.
- Make it harden – Time is precious! Wait for 24-48 hours to get it hard.
Note – Plants/natural elements need to be submerged and positioned correctly to make the art perfect.
Know More! – You can mix colours in epoxy resin to give colourful vibrancy into your jewellery art. Points to Remember! – Ensure no air bubbles are there while pouring the resin. Curing area must be free of dust and debris to make the jewellery perfect.
Step 3 – The Final Touch
- Demolding – once fully cured, gently remove the resin pieces from molds.
- Transparent, vibrant, colourful jewellery masterpiece is ready and final touch needs to be given.
Let’s make it perfect: It requires smoothing out the edges with coarse grit and moving to a finer grit sandpaper and polishing them for a glossy finish. Also use resin polish for perfection.
Step 4 – Assembling the jewellery
Now you are ready to assemble the handmade jewellery.
- Use a drill or pin to create holes as per requirement to put hooks or chains.
